What is your role at Jordan Brand?
I’ve been at Jordan Brand since the start in 1994 as a designer, working on production and marketing initiatives. Since then, I have helped grow the business and build one of the most recognizable and successful brands in sports history.
How did you get into designing shoes?
I grew up in an athletic household, playing sports throughout my life. My first pair of basketball shoes were Air Jordans and I’ve always had a love for basketball. I started designing shoes in 1998, and later that year, I was offered a job as the Senior Vice President of Product Development at Jordan Brand.
What's the process like for developing a new set of cleats?
We work with customers on a shoe design and development basis. We create a sketch that the customer can mock up and we discuss the design together. Once we have a basic design concept, we work toward production by creating a sample product. We then have the customer pick up the sample to check the fit and feel.
Why are your latest designs so popular?
Our newest collection, the Future Legend, is a great example of our versatility. The Future Legend was inspired by past Jordan models and represents the evolution of the style with a refined upper and durable outsole. These are perfect for the player who wants style and protection in their shoe.
